[Official Statement] Immediate Cessation of Groundless Degradation and Political Exploitation of Shincheonji Church of Jesus Demanded

[December 4, 2025] Recently, "Shincheonji Church of Jesus" has been mentioned unnecessarily in the course of various statements and debates within political circles. We express deep concern and firm regret regarding the act of utilizing a religious community as material for political strife.

Shincheonji Church of Jesus is a religious organization. It has not established a relationship of any kind with any specific political party or political force, and it will clearly maintain the principle of political neutrality in the future. Nevertheless, the continued practice of degrading Shincheonji Church of Jesus or abusing speculative remarks is resulting in serious violations of the human rights of the members of Shincheonji Church of Jesus.

The Constitution of the Republic of Korea guarantees the freedom of faith to all citizens, and no religion should be unfairly stigmatized or exploited as a tool for political strife. Expressions that degrade or distort a specific religion constitute acts that undermine religious diversity and the fundamental rights of citizens; such actions cannot be justified under any purpose. Shincheonji Church of Jesus has no intention of intervening in the political battles between politicians. We request a cessation of anti-constitutional and human rights-violating actions that treat Shincheonji Church of Jesus as a victim of political debate.

Should slander contrary to the facts, false claims, or insults and distortions toward religion be repeated in the future, we will respond through all possible procedures to ensure that the rights of the church and its members are not infringed upon.

Shincheonji Church of Jesus will continue to remain devoted to its public roles, such as the essence of faith, Bible education, community service, and peace activities, and we hope for a society where all religions in the Republic of Korea are respected and coexist without discrimination.
